Basildon A.C co-hosted their final Southern Women's fixture this weekend at Hemel Hempstead where they finished a creditable second behind a strong Guildford team. As a result the Basildon ladies have finished fifth in the league standings and are once again the highest placed Essex team.
In the breakdown of the match, both the under 15 girls and seniors won the track points tally, with the under 15 girls also topping the field with the women second.
The under 15 girls showed strength in the throwing events by winning all but the shot putt.
The women saw two ex-athletes come out of retirement to earn valuable points in the form of Tammy Large and Linda Matthews.
Dominance was shown by both senior women's relays with the sprint team winning the 4 x 100m by over two seconds and the 4 x 400m team holding off a fast finishing Guildford.
